As a law firm that has been providing compliance projects and consultancy services to our clients in the field of Personal Data Protection Law for many years, even since the legislation was first established, we closely follow developments in this area. With this second issue of our bulletin, covering developments in October 2024, we have compiled significant developments in personal data protection in Turkey and around the world.
In this bulletin, we particularly highlight developments related to Turkey’s progress in aligning the KVKK with the GDPR, the establishment of a parliamentary commission by the Turkish Grand National Assembly to address the risks associated with artificial intelligence, and the European Commission's assessment in its Turkey report that the KVKK is not fully aligned with the EU acquis. Additionally, this issue covers recent developments in data security and cybersecurity, as well as notable decisions from international authorities.
